History
The origins of the village El Perelló can be traced back to prehistoric times. Remains of this age can be found in the "Cova de la Mallada" or cave of the Mallada and can also be contemplated in the ancient paintings of Cabra-Feixet.
There also have been found numerous iberian and roman artifacts and remains of the roman Vía Augusta.
There are no traces found of any Moorish domination and there are no signs that suggest it was reconquered during the reconquista, However there are varios fortifications like watching towers and stone walls which pressumably were build to fence off any moorsih and pirate attacks.
In the year 1308, the queen Blanca de Anjou, founded the Hospital "Fuente del Perelló" (the old name of the village), with the purpose to give shelter and comfort to pilgrims, sick and poor that passed throught that area.
In 1640 during the war "Guerra de los Segadores" the village suffered an attack from the troops of the marquis de los Vélez who plunderd and set fire to the village.
Most recently during the revolt against Franco 1936-1939 the village and its people suffered the devastating bomimgs form the aviation attacks.
Places of Interest
The village of El Perelló is ideal place for spending a quiet holiday with the family.
You can enjoy either the rural and montanous surroundings or bathe in the beaches of Santa Llúcia, Cala Moros and Pont de l'Àlia which offer cristal clear waters.
Platja de Santa Llúcia is the biggest and most frequented beach with bars, showers and even a small shopping center called "Els Bufadors".
Nature lovers can also visits on of the other more quiet beaches like "platja del Pont de l'Àliga" or "Cala Moros".

Festivities
Sant Antoni: January 17. The biggest festival of El Perelló, dedicated to the saint Antoni Abat. Many different activities take place like sanctifying animals, and folklore dancing called "Ball de la Darrera"
Firabril: April. Multicultural festival dedicated to the local agricultural producets, which are mainly honey and olive oil.
Corpus: July. Christian festival in which the streets are decorate with beatiful flowers.
Summer party is Santa LLucia beach: 14-15 August.
La Diada de Catalunya: September 11. Celebrated by the hermitage of de Sant Cristòfol, where a gigantic paella is coocked.
