Pampaneira is a municipality and town in the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Located in the region of La Alpujarra. The town is located in the Poqueira ravine, in the central-western part of the Alpujarra Granadina, about 66 km from the provincial capital. It borders the municipalities of Bubión, Capileira, La Taha, Órgiva, Carataunas and Soportújar. A large part of its municipal area belongs to the Sierra Nevada National Park and the Historic Complex of the Poqueira Ravine. Pampaneira has a continental Mediterranean climate due to its altitude (more than 1000 m) and because it is on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada (3482 m). This means that it has cold winters, where it is not unusual for snow or frost to occur, and somewhat warm summers, with extreme highs above 35 degrees but below 40 degrees. Temperatures are moderated by the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea.Rainfall is variable and even abundant, with a dry period in summer and a cold spell in autumn.
